MOCKINGJAY chapter 27

Some of my reactions as I read chapter 27... I'll come back later to talk more seriously about things. Please feel free to read along with me and share your reactions and start some discussions, but please NOTHING that happens after Chapter 27. And only read this if you've finished Chapter 27!
There's Peeta, protecting her again.

Ooh... that's the quote from the bookmark they were giving out.

OK. Paylor. I'm all right with that.

I wish Plutarch were gone too. He's just as bad. He's so blase about the thought of war returning. It's just a game to him. Gross.

Greasy Sae. :-)

And there's our Peeta.... with roses! Perfect! Something needed to erase Snow.

Madge. *sniff* I still had hope.

Buttercup... okay, this is where I just LOST. IT. Tears for Buttercup. Tears for the memory book. Tears for every one of the people that are gone. Tears for Annie's baby. My shirt is wet from the crying.

And the reason you know the book's awesome: in the midst of weeping, Haymitch with the geese still got a laugh out of me.

And there it is. The boy with the bread. The dandelion. He really is right for her. Real. *sappy, teary smile*

  1. Something else unexpected. I really didn't see Haymitch making it through to the end.

  2. I like that they didn't pretend he was going to live happily ever after now. He's still a damaged drunk.

But I am surprised he was never in any action. We never saw him do anything but mentor and drink. He never got his hands dirty. I probably like him better for that, but it surprises me.

  3. So, B, have you decided whether Maggie's allowed to read HG yet? She's asking.

  4. I was going to until Prim died. Now I'm not sure. What do you think?
