Finished CATCHING FIRE; Haven't started MOCKINGJAY

If you haven't finished reading CATCHING FIRE, do not click the "read more".

If you have, click through to see some of my final thoughts as we get ready to read MOCKINGJAY.

And if you haven't, what's wrong with you?!? These are the BEST books! The kind where each chapter ends with a gasp that has you "just one more chapter"ing until 5 am! Read HUNGER GAMES! Read HUNGER GAMES! Read HUNGER GAMES!

So, HUNGER GAMES & CATCHING FIRE have been discussed anywhere and everywhere in fabulous fashion... I can't compete with that, so I'll answer 3 questions that I'd love to hear other fans answer...

1. What was your favorite moment in the books so far?

It's a small thing, but at the beginning of CATCHING FIRE, there's a moment when Katniss confuses Prim and Rue a bit in her mind. It's sweet and heartbreaking, and a reminder of why we love Katniss (even though she's dense & stubborn & unforgiving).

2. What are you hoping to have happen in MOCKINGJAY?

In an ideal world, I want a happy ending. I want every single person happy. Cinna's alive in the Capitol (you can still sew without a tongue). Gale will notice that Madge is in love with him and they will live happily ever after. Peeta comes into his own in the Capitol, starting revolution from within. Katniss finds this irresistible and they live happily ever after. Heck, I even think Hazelle could be really good for Haymitch. The only person who does not live happily ever after: President Snow. I trust Suzanne Collins to come up with a suitably horrific end.

Of course, Panem is hardly an ideal world.  Just give me Cinna being okay. Please?

3. What are you terrified will happen in MOCKINGJAY?

The deaths. We know there are some coming. And knowing that Suzanne Collins doesn't pull punches, there have got to be some rough ones. I don't even want to think about who we'll be losing. (My niece--firmly Team Gale-- thinks Gale will die trying to rescue Peeta from the Capitol. Gah. Don't even want to think about it.)

Please, Cinna? Just hang in there?

And I worry for Katniss. What Peeta said on the roof before the first Hunger Games... he doesn't want the Hunger Games to change him. He doesn't want to become a monster. I worry that if the deaths are too harsh, that Katniss (and even more, Gale) will let vengeance/anger/hurt change her. Please, Katniss, remember who you are and what's important.

What about you? How would you answer these questions?
